I chose this programme as I’ve always had a passion for interior design and architecture. Although I didn’t study this at school, I was really inspired when I came to visit the College. The programme works on rotation and you get to do a bit of everything; Graphics where you do Photoshop and Illustrator, Art where you get to paint and draw etc. Now I’m designing a chair in Interior Design.
I did the Level 2 in Interior Design last year and progressed onto the level 3 in September and my favourite part so far has been designing the chair, although it has been a bit stressful as I like things to be perfect. I haven’t made it yet, it’s a work in progress and is being made using recycled materials.
My parents were really supportive of me coming to College as I want to go onto university to study architecture or perhaps interior design and I will need this level 3 programme.
For my work experience I’ve been at JD Sports where I worked on the new lines and I will be going onto another company soon to do more architecture-based work experience. MidKent College is my local college and it’s convenient to get to - I would definitely recommend coming here as it’s so much more supportive than school. My tutors are good and I enjoy being taught by April as she taught me last year. The step up from level 2 to 3 was strange at first but I’ve enjoyed it as I’m learning new things.
