I started playing ice hockey when I was 11. My interest was sparked when I went on a family holiday to Canada. We went ice skating and I saw others playing hockey and just wanted to try it.

I am currently studying the T Level in Construction Design, Planning and Surveying and am in my second year. My employer is Janson Projects and we mainly work in and around London.

I did the Multi-Trades programme before at the College and found that Carpentry was the most appealing trade. I enjoyed it more as it’s more creative and it was just something I was drawn to.

I chose Multi-Trades as I didn’t really know what trade I wanted to do at the time, so I thought I’d get a taste of everything. During this programme, I realised that Carpentry was my favourite of all of them.

In my apprenticeship at the moment I’ve been building houses, so we get the inside skin up, and then the brick and concrete work on the outside. I’m 28 and was a manager in care but I was looking for something different.

I chose to come to College as I already knew what I was interested in and wanted to make my learning specific to that. I chose MidKent College because it is close to my house and easy to get to and from.
