MidKent College seemed human. They took the time to listen to what I needed and were willing to help. I had a bumpy start, as I wanted to go with another university in London because it was a 1-year course, but they messed up my admission. They had forgotten all about me. When I explained my situation to MidKent College, not only were they willing to listen, but they also straight away came up with a strategy to help me. I cannot praise them enough.

MidKent College is a main training provider for the military students in vocational and higher education as well, hence it was my preferred choice as my background is also military. I joined a Professional Engineering Wing (PEW) as a mechanical building services engineering lecturer. As part of my teaching role, I have to complete this programme.

When I started my course, my son, who teaches, said to me ‘are you planning a career change dad?’ I’m not. I’m doing it because I do a lot of training in public health and I wanted to do it better, and have formal qualifications. I have put myself through the wringer as a result!

It’s probably one of the best colleges for equipment for Music and Performing Arts in the local area. I’m enjoying being around the people in my class and collaborating with other like-minded students and musicians. We’re currently preparing to do a live performance at a local venue.

My tutors have supported me all the way. I did the UCAS application with the help of the personal tutor, and was offered places at Canterbury Christ Church University and University of Kent, depending on my grades. I passed all my exams. This course changed my whole life.

You have to learn your whole life for the best outcomes. I’m very ambitious and open to want to learn. I chose MidKent College because it’s close to where I live and I researched it before I applied. There are amazing teachers, very supportive staff, and I’m really happy.
