I’m currently studying health access for nursing. In class we’re currently learning about biology and the multi skeletal system – we’re looking at muscles and using a chicken wing to pretend it’s an arm to learn about the skeleton to see movement, etc.

I’m studying the access to nursing healthcare course. We’re learning the reflex arc in a chicken wing and we’re applying to how that occurs in the human body. My favourite part about the course is biology – I absolutely loved it. Especially learning about neurons.

We’re learning about traditional photography currently – on Fridays we go to the Medway School of Arts and use the dark room there which is really cool. My favourite part of the course is definitely the practical stuff like taking pictures as opposed to the theory.

In theory we’re currently learning about cold water systems and in practical we do a mix of everything. I most enjoy doing the practical work – we put up radiators and now we’re putting toilets together and connecting them to a valve.

I chose MidKent College after coming to an open day and I just loved the College environment – it isn’t all classroom work its fun stuff, like practical work too. I found the open day really helpful as I knew what I wanted to do but I was also able to speak to the tutors.

I chose College as I didn’t want to go to sixth form – I felt that I wanted a new start. So far on the course we’ve covered a lot, including site management and contracts. I’m currently doing a work placement which I go to every Monday.
