I chose to study Construction because I wasn’t interested in many other things and Construction interested me. I studied Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery previously here. I wanted to do more the management side of the industry, but still work with the trades. I’m a practical and hands-on person.
I’m not sure what I want to do longer term, maybe a site manager. My industry placement is hopefully with Taylor Wimpey.
We’re learning manual, graphical drawings, maths in Construction, building principles and surveying – my favourite is building principles as it’s more about the actual construction. I find the drawings interesting too.
Our tutor Charlotte is friendly, funny and makes you feel welcome. I live nearby. The College makes sure you have your needs catered to and they’re very helpful.
I’d recommend someone to come to College because here you have more of an understanding of what it’s going to be like at work through large amounts of placement hours. It’s a fun experience.
