I'm a student on Level 3 in Construction & Built Environment. As part of the course we work in a relevant placement for 1 or 2 days per week.
I’m working with Bellway Homes and helping out with the Quantity Surveying (QS). I’m learning the ropes and getting to know how everything works. I get to go out on site and learn about the role of a QS. The sites I’ve been to are Pinks Hill in Ashford and Hellingly in Ayelsham – they’re big sites with about 400 plots on one of them and 200 on the other. I’m getting a good overview of what happens on a construction site.
Construction has always been there at the back of my mind as a career. I’m very interested in how it all works. I’m looking for an apprenticeship in QS when I finish.
