Course Description

With digital skills becoming ever more important in today’s world, our Level 3 in Information Technology and Games Development aims to equip our students with key and in demand skills to find success in the growing sector.

Our Level 3 programme uses a project-centred approach that brings multiple subjects together into one continuous project. This allows students to explore topics in greater depth and make strong, real-world links to industry practices across both years of the course.

This programme combines two qualifications in one:

> BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Digital Games Design and Development
> BTEC Level 3 National in Information Technology (AAQ)

Year 1 focuses on core IT and digital skills, including computer hardware, networking systems, digital media, and scripting for apps and game engines.

Year 2 builds on this foundation by exploring cyber security and website development, while further developing game design skills such as 3D modelling, testing, and refinement.

With a split of both coursework and exams, the Level 3 programme covers the following units:

BTEC National in Information Technology (AAQ) Equivalent to 1 A-Level:

> Information Technology Systems (Exam)
