Concessions & student loans

Different programmes have different concessions and/or loans. Please check the fee symbols shown against your chosen programme.

If you are under 19 on 31st August prior to the start of your course you will be eligible for free tuition on this course.

This is not applicable to apprenticeships. Please see the apprenticeship 'A' symbol for further information.

If you are aged 19 or over on 31 August prior to the start of your level 3 or 4 course there are no concessions available although you may be eligible to claim level 3 entitlement (see symbol 3 below). If you are not eligible to claim level 3 entitlement you can apply for a government Advanced Learner Loan.

Concessions are available on some courses for the following groups of students:

Students in receipt of an eligible state benefit who:

  • Are unemployed or earning less than 16 times the National Minimum Wage per week or £338 a month (individual claims) or £541 a month (household claims)

AND

  • Want to be employed, or progress into more suitable employment and the course is directly relevant to their employment prospects and local labour market needs.

To claim this concession you will need to provide original proof of benefit dated no more than two months prior to the start of your course and complete the Declaration for Skills Training Funding Form. Students in receipt of a low wage who:

  • Are employed but cannot contribute towards the cost of fees

AND

  • Earn less than £15,736.50 annual gross salary

To claim this concession you will need to provide original proof of your gross annual wages in the form of  a wage slip dated within three months of your course start date or a current employment contract stating gross monthly/annual wages. You will also need to complete a Declaration Form.

Level 1 - If you are aged 19-23 at the start of this entry/level 1 course and do not already hold a full level 2 qualification, but intend to progress to complete a full level 2, your fees will be waived in full. To check your eligibility and claim this concession, please complete the Level 1/2/3 Declaration Form and email to Credit.Control@midkent.ac.uk or post to:

There are no concessions available on higher education courses, however you can apply for a government higher education student loan. For details on these loans and an application form please click here.

MidKent College do not claim any funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency for this course and are therefore unable to offer any concessions for students in receipt of benefits. Please check the other symbols against this course for details of other entitlements or loans that may be available.
