HND Sport student Reece Kneafsey started playing rugby in May/June 2013. She has captained Saracens U18s and the Oaklands Wolves Academy and additionally played for both Middlesex and Hertfordshire U18s. Reece has also played in the National 7s tournament and attended a trial for London & South East England.
Reece had been due to have an England Sevens U18s trial but sadly she injured her shoulder prior to the trial. The injury was so severe that she was out for two years and was not back playing again until the 2016/17 season. Reece currently plays for Darlington Mowden Park Sharks in the Women's Premiership and is trying to get on the England pathway.
Reece is combining her sporting prowess with her sport-related studies and has had relevant work experience. Sport lecturer, Neil Hemstead said “Reece is a dedicated and intelligent student. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic is reflected in her work placement working with the RFU to organise a range of events and tournaments across the UK. The placement is indicative of Reece’s ability to use her initiative, manage her time effectively and use her knowledge and contacts in a professional capacity”.
This coming March, Reece has an Ireland Women’s Screening through the Exiles. The Exiles provide an opportunity to follow another path so if your parents or grandparents were born in Ireland you could play rugby for Ireland.
