Three new apprentices have joined engineering company Plalite this summer, with all three having connections to MidKent College.
MidKent College’s Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Bradley Austin, and Apprenticeship Recruitment Co-ordinator, Tammy Whiteman, recently visited Plalite to meet the new apprentices, catch up on how they are settling into their roles and capture some photos of them in their new working environment.
Reuben, Alex and Harry have all started apprenticeships with Plalite, beginning the next step in their careers while gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing their engineering skills in the workplace.
It was particularly great to see Reuben and Alex taking this next step after previously studying with us. Reuben most recently completed our Level 2 Engineering course, while Alex completed a Preparation for Employment course with our Adult Skills team in May 2026.

This summer we welcome three new apprentices carefully selected from the talent pool offered by MidKent College. Each one of these young individuals impressed us with their ability to communicate, showed an overwhelming enthusiasm to become a skilled engineer and join the team at Plalite.
We look forward to teaching them the skills required and subsequently benefiting from their future output and innovative ideas.”
Apprenticeships give young people the chance to gain industry experience, develop practical skills, and work towards a recognised qualification. At the same time, employers can invest in and develop the next generation of talent.
