MidKent College and Apex Contractors have strengthened their long-standing partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reinforcing their shared commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals and addressing local skills needs.

The partnership has grown from the successful construction of MidKent College's Decarbonisation Hub, where Apex Contractors worked closely with the College team to deliver a high-quality facility. The strong working relationship established during the project has since led to Apex welcoming multiple T Level students on industry placements, providing them with valuable real-world experience on live construction sites.

The newly signed MOU marks the next stage in the partnership, placing an even greater emphasis on collaborative working, supporting the local skills plan and creating a sustainable pipeline of talent for the construction industry. With a number of significant projects planned across the South East, Apex Contractors will continue to work alongside MidKent College to offer students meaningful placement opportunities across a wide range of construction disciplines. These experiences will enable learners to develop practical skills, gain industry knowledge and build confidence in a professional working environment. Steph Harris, New Business & Social Value Director at Apex Contractors, said:

"At Apex, we are passionate about investing in people and creating lasting social value in the communities where we work. We have already enjoyed working with MidKent College to provide students with valuable insight into the construction industry and opportunities to develop their skills and aspirations. This Memorandum of Understanding formalises that relationship and reflects our shared ambition to open doors, inspire careers and create positive outcomes for students and the wider community."

Speaking about the partnership, MidKent College Executive Director & Deputy CEO, Chris Hare said:

"We're really pleased to be building on what has already been a fantastic partnership with Apex Contractors. From delivering our Decarbonisation Hub to providing valuable T Level placements, they've shown a genuine commitment to supporting our students. This agreement reflects our shared ambition to give more young people meaningful industry experience, helping them build the skills and confidence they need for successful careers in construction, while supporting employers to develop their future workforce."

As the partnership continues to grow, students can look forward to even more opportunities to gain hands-on experience, develop industry-ready skills and build successful careers in construction.
