Three MidKent College students had a unique opportunity to film as Gillingham FC defeated Sheffield United 2-0 at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday 7 February.
Gabrielle Cork, Callum Bur and Liam Poole had prime positions to film on the sidelines and the terrace. They filmed in the changing rooms and also joined the professional film crews and reporters for post-match interviews after the Gills extended their unbeaten run to five games.
Liam said: "I managed to get both of the Gills goals. It was amazing. A bit crazy at times with the crowd going mad but I'd definitely do it again if I got the chance."
Liam is hoping to go to university in September, so the footage will be a great addition to his showreel.
He added: "It was great to put into practice what I've learned at MidKent. Before doing the course I'd have been clueless. Now I know about professional techniques and how to put things together."
Gabrielle found it changed her practice. She said: "I had never filmed in such a large space before. I'm better at framing my shots now despite the action constantly moving around."
"The experience has made me better at working to schedule as there was only a short amount of time to film all the indoor shots before the game started."
Leonardo Caroleo is the MidKent College lecturer who set it all up. He said: "This was an amazing opportunity for our students to use the skills they've learned at College. The staff at the stadium were really helpful. We hope that this leads to further projects."
The three Extended Diploma Media students, were invited to spend the day at Priestfields by Gillingham FC's marketing team as part of a joint project with Medway Council.
