Buntu Melamane, who is a Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprentice, delivers training in Construction Materials Technology at MidKent College.
Congratulating him, Craig Alexander, his line manager and programme area lead for MidKent College CMT, said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate Buntu being awarded Apprentice of the Month. This is a well-deserved recognition of the dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm he brings to both his studies and his role within our programme area. His determination to continually develop his own skills is reflected in the high-quality training he delivers every day, where he consistently goes above and beyond to support and inspire his learners.
“Beyond his own success, he is always willing to share his knowledge, offer guidance, and provide encouragement to colleagues who are also undertaking the qualification, making him an invaluable member of the team. This award not only recognises his hard work on the course but also the positive impact he has on those around him. We look forward to seeing his continued success.”
Nathan Homewood, MidKent College tutor, said: “‘Buntu has been an outstanding member of the Teacher Training cohort. Over the past 18 months, he has consistently demonstrated commitment, curiosity, and a genuine passion for professional growth. He engages deeply in every session, asking thoughtful questions, seeking clarity, and actively applying new knowledge to enhance the learning experiences he provides for his own students.
“He has also helped others prepare for their End Point Assessments and contributed positively to the collaborative spirit of the group. Impressively, Buntu has recently completed his own End Point Assessment, achieving distinction grades in both the lesson observation and the professional discussion. This exceptional performance is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and continued development as an educator. ‘
Buntu said: “This apprenticeship has had a big impact on my development as a teacher. It has helped me improve how I plan and deliver lessons, using different teaching strategies and assessment methods to better support soldiers undertaking the CMT courses. I have become more confident and reflective in my practice, always looking for ways to improve and adapt my teaching. I would also like to highlight the support from the Teacher Training Team, my manager and my wider team, who have been a big part of my journey. Their guidance, feedback and encouragement have really helped me settle into my role as a CMT Trainer.”
Congratulations Buntu!
