Ayra is currently studying for a level 2 Engineering Operative (maintenance) apprenticeship and is employed as an electrical engineering apprentice at 2gether Support Solutions, Willesborough, Kent.

Congratulating her Niel Sayer, 2gether Support Solutions, maintenance engineer supervisor, said: “Ayra demonstrates a strong understanding of the work we do and consistently asks the right questions at the right time. This shows that she truly grasps what we're trying to explain. In every task Ayra undertakes, she displays a high level of commitment and dedication. From the very beginning, we could see that she was actively listening to our feedback, which indicates that she understands the objectives of the tasks. Her ability to grasp the requirements of our jobs quickly shows that she has a solid understanding of what we're trying to achieve. It's impressive to see how she anticipates the next steps and prepares accordingly by gathering the necessary tools ahead of time. Ayra's proactive approach and eagerness to learn have made a fantastic impression on our team.”

Steve Uden, apprenticeship trainer at MidKent College, said: “Ayra’s dedication and commitment to her studies have been remarkable, along with the positive attitude and professionalism she brings to MidKent College. She has consistently gone above and beyond our expectations, demonstrating an outstanding work ethic and passion for learning. Her high scores on exams, valuable contributions to the classroom, and willingness to assist her peers have not gone unnoticed by both staff and students. It’s clear that her efforts are not only shaping her own future but also inspiring others at MidKent College to aim higher.”

Ayra said: “At 2gether Support Solutions, I am gaining hands-on experience in electrical mechanical systems. The best part for me is the opportunity to learn from colleagues who have 12 to 15 years of experience in the same field. I am really enjoying fault finding and problem solving – it needs a detective approach that improves critical thinking.

“When I first started my engineering apprenticeship, I was a bit worried about being the only female on the team. However, from day one, I received incredible support from both my employer and college, all the tutors, especially my assessor, which helped me to build confidence. As a mother of a five-year-old, balancing work, college, and home life isn’t easy. It’s challenging to manage my time when it comes to homework on top of parenting responsibilities. But these challenges are shaping me to become more focused and organised.”

Congratulations Ayra.
