One of our students studying Sport & Exercise Science recently won the opportunity to appear as the “12th Man” at Gillingham FC. This experience day involved a full stadium tour, meeting all of the players, the club manager and full behind-the-scenes VIP access.

The winner, Annie Ruler, also received a personalised team shirt with name and number and her name listed in the souvenir programme.

Head of Sport & Public Services, Mark Lampard said “It is important to recognise the efforts of students throughout the year and to reward them for their fantastic achievements. Often students do not self-reflect well and incentives help them to continually improve and maintain focus”.

Second year Sport student Annie said the whole day was great fun and she was accompanied on the experience by her Grandad who loves also football. Annie is no stranger to the football pitch as she spends all of her spare time coaching Barming ladies under 14’s. Annie explained “being chosen as the winner of this experience day meant a lot to me, it felt special to be selected and is acknowledgement for the hard work I put in, to a subject I really love”.
