To support with Work Experience Week and National Apprenticeship Week, Candice Penfold (Candy!), a member of our MidKent College Alumni Network recently returned to share her journey into nursing.
Now a Staff Nurse at HMP East Sutton Park with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Candy started out studying A Levels at MidKent College, followed by working in care.
However, she didn’t take the predicted route, instead, she completed an apprenticeship, allowing her to earn while she learned. She qualified later in life, putting her family first.
Candy explained to students how they can complete a nursing apprenticeship and how life paths can change, and that's OK.
Her enthusiasm shone through, and we’re sure the students will be taking her advice home with them 😍
