Her dedication to her HNC (Higher National Certificate) while juggling family, full time employment and NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is admirable, and has inspired many of us to go back to studies and training. We are all very aware that we’ll only be stepping stones in Alicia’s career as with her focus and determination, anything is possible. I’m delighted to hear she has been recognised as apprentice of the month and look forward to seeing her hard work pay off as she grows in her knowledge and confidence in the industry. Well done Alicia.”
Lewis O’Callaghan, Higher Education lecturer at MidKent College, said: “While overcoming personal challenges with returning to college and studying maths, Alicia has shown perseverance and determination to relearn her skills and activity participates within sessions whilst completing Science Principles for Building Services Engineers.
Alicia said: “Starting this HNC and returning to education after a fair few years out was a little daunting at first, particularly combining this with full time employment and other training requirements. However, i am fortunate to have an amazingly supportive team who I can rely on and who have been on hand to take the pressure off when needed. I also have great classmates who have been a great sounding board (especially for maths!!!) In the 6 months since attending College, I have seen my own self- belief and confidence grow and I have already started to apply my learnings to my day to day projects. Solidifying my learning and becoming a qualified EngTech with CIBSE is my initial goal, but who knows what’s next?”
Congratulations Alicia.
