Just received your results? Read our FAQs - Starting College
First of all, we’d like to say a massive well done! It’s been a tough time and you are the first year group to sit actual GCSE exams since 2019, having had your learning disrupted by Covid-19.
We hope you got the grades you wanted, but if things have turned out differently than you were expecting and you’ve achieved lower, or higher grades than you thought, then we are here to help.
Whether you’ve already applied to College and been offered a place, were planning to stay at sixth form or start an apprenticeship, we’ve put together some of the common questions and worries we get at this time of year to help put your mind at rest.
I've already got a place at MidKent College on a full-time study programme:
I’ve got the grades I needed, what’s next?
Fantastic – congratulations! Please complete the online enrolment sent to you by email and then come along to the face-to-face session at the arranged date and time. We look forward to meeting you!
Will I be offered a place on anything else if I’ve received better/lower grades than I expected?
If we have the availability, and the programme fits with your long-term career aim, then we’ll do our best to ensure you have a place on a programme. If you’ve already applied, please still complete the online enrolment process through the link in the email we've sent you. You can talk to the tutors at your enrolment session to ensure that you're on the right level for you.
I don’t want to do the programme I’ve applied for anymore, can I swap to something else?
If we have places available on the programme you’re interested in, and it’s suitable for you, then we will look to offer you a place on a different programme. Please select this option through the enrolment link we've emailed to you.
I don’t want to attend the campus I’ve applied for anymore, can I swap to the other campus?
If we offer the programme at the other campus, and there are places available, then we will be able to swap you to the other campus. We’ll do our best to ensure that you’re on the best programme for you. Please let us know as part of the enrolment process through the link we've emailed to you.
I no longer want my place at College, what do I need to do?
Please select the yellow button on the online enrolment process through the link we've emailed to you to withdraw your application.
I’ve enrolled online, but I am on holiday for my face-to-face appointment. What shall I do?
Please contact our Admissions Team via this enquiry form to let them know and they will confirm another date and time for you.
Where do I get my uniform from?
The department will share information about the supplier how to order your uniform at your enrolment session.
Will I get any help with fees/travel/childcare?
You may be eligible for a College bursary, depending on your cirumstances. You can check the eligibility criteria and make an application on our website here.
I'm worried about starting College, is there anyone I can talk to?
Most people will be feeling nervous about transitioning to College. Our Student Support Team will be availalbe at your face-to-face enrolment session to talk to if you're feeling a bit over-whelmed. They can also let you know about the support available to you during your time at College including our counselling service, student health service and safeguarding.
I've not yet applied to College:
Can I still apply for a programme at College?
Yes! You can still search and apply online for an available programme. Please be advised though that some programmes may have had a large number of applications and will have a waiting list in place. If you apply for one of these programmes, we will confirm this when we receive your application. You will not be able to submit an application if a programme is listed as full on the website.
Once you've applied, we'll be in touch to confirm when you need to come in for your interview and enrolment.
I’ve started sixth form, but it’s not for me, can I still apply to College?
Yes, we accept applications throughout September and into October if there are places available. Search and apply online, or come along to one of our late enrolment sessions.
If you start a programme late in the term and have missed work, you must be willing to catch up on this when you start your programme.
I need to talk to someone about my options – who should I contact?
Please contact our course enquiries team on 01634 402020, or via email. Alternatively, please talk to us via Live Chat on our website. Please be aware that it’s a very busy time for us, but we will deal with your enquiry as quickly as we can. You may be referred to our Careers Team if you need help deciding on a career pathway.
I have a place on an apprenticeship and am not sure what happens next?
Please contact our Apprenticeship Team who can answer any queries for you. You can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01622 625999
I would like to do an apprenticeship, can I still apply?

Please remember, we're here to help, so please do get in touch if you are unsure or have any questions.
