Let’s be real – some days, revising feels impossible. Your brain’s in sleep mode, your notes look like hieroglyphics, and even thinking about GCSEs makes you want to scroll TikTok for three hours straight!

We’ve all been there. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to feel motivated to make progress. On low-energy days, it’s all about small wins and smart strategies.

 1. Revise in 5 minute chunks

Tell yourself, “I’ll revise for just five minutes.” That’s it. Often, once you start, you’ll find it easier to keep going. But even if you don’t? Five minutes is better than zero.

 2. Switch up the method

Bored of flashcards? Try a YouTube video. Can’t face a textbook? Teach the topic out loud to your dog (or your wall – no judgement). Mixing things up keeps your brain awake and engaged.

3. Set easy goals

Instead of “revise Chemistry,” go for “learn 3 acids and alkalis” or “do one practice question.” Make your goals so easy it’s harder not to do them.

4. Use the ‘study with me’ trick

Search “Study With Me” videos on YouTube or TikTok – they’re surprisingly motivating. It feels like revising with a mate, even if you’re alone in your room.

5. Accept that it won’t be perfect

Not every revision session needs to be “productive.” Some days are just about ticking the box. That’s okay. Consistency beats perfection.

Most people wait to feel motivated before they start. But in reality, action comes first - motivation comes after. Do a little something (even when you don’t feel like it) and your brain will catch up!

You’ve got this!
