I'm doing the Civil Engineering Senior Technician course at MidKent College. Being an apprentice is good as you gain a lot of experience when you're working under people on site.

I'll achieve a Level 4 qualification and a HNC, and I'm hoping to start my own business one day.

My tutor, Charlotte, has been really helpful. I would say one of the most important things to have is good tutors - they have great communication skills. She really knows what she's talking about and teaches us well. It's also great communicating with different people on site and working out how to fix problems.

I've found learning CAD at college really helpful. I used it a bit before, but college has really developed my knowledge as I now use it every day.

For anyone looking to apply to an apprenticeship I would say you need to apply to lots of different ones as it's very competitive.

If you're someone thinking of applying for an apprenticeship, I would say definitely do it. I've gained so much experience, and I've been able to earn money.
