In class we’re currently learning how to do facepainting, makeup and hair. The facepainting consists of child facepainting, sci-fi, jungle looks.
We do quite a lot of different looks in our assessments – we have clients that we bring in. For makeup we do bridal looks, special occasional looks. On Friday’s we do blow drying, straightening and treatments – we’re learning bridal hair plaiting and twisting.
My favourite bit of the course so far has been facepainting. I really enjoy art so that allows me to show my artistic side when I do that. After this course I’d like to open my own salon doing hair and makeup – I prefer doing hair. Before joining this course I didn’t think I’d like doing facepainting but facepainting has been my favourite so I’d also like to do that, even if it’s part time working at kids parties or on movie sets like special effects.
I’d definitely recommend this course to other students, it’s really fun and even the assignments and exams are enjoyable. I do my assignments straight away as I enjoy the course.
Before starting College I wish I’d known how different it is from secondary school like you transition from being told what to do constantly to being able to have more freedom and being independent here. I prefer College to school, I like the freedom and being treated more like an adult, you can express yourself more in College.
