You may have seen media reports of a meningococcal disease outbreak in Kent.  No one from our College has become unwell as part of the outbreak.

I am on my second year after coming straight from school. I chose to come to College as I wanted a change of environment and be more independent.

I am treated much more like an adult here and there is more hands-on things here such as the hospital areas. The tutors are lovely; they are really supportive and provide really good feedback to help us. They have all come from this kind of background and been social workers or care workers.

I have a workplace where twice a week we go out into the community and meet with service users which is really good. We have covered things like anatomy and physiology. I do my work placement at Medway Hospital and I help with the discharge department to help discharge and care packages for the public who are leaving the hospital.

I want to go on to be a paramedic and study paramedic science at university. My first choice is the University of Greenwich and I am on the projected path to get the grades to get into university. This is a good pathway to university and it’s a different way of learning.

My advice for anyone coming is that it is mainly independent study.
