You may have seen media reports of a meningococcal disease outbreak in Kent.  No one from our College has become unwell as part of the outbreak.

I am doing the Level 3 Site Carpentry apprenticeship and I work for JJ Sweeney based in Essex.

I was only out of education for a year so it wasn’t a big change to come back to education at the age of 25. This is the fourth year of my apprenticeship.

I find the balance of working and coming to College good - I get a nice lay in on the day I have to come into College!

The practical skills I learn in the workshop are power tools, hand tools and site basics. I advance those skills during my day job on-site. I am working on the computers today building a building on the computer.

My day-to-day work is fitting wooden doors, door frames and cut out boxes in the floor. I have learnt these skills at College. I completed my level 2 with MidKent College and realised I grew up a bit coming back for my level 3.

I would 100% recommend an apprenticeship to others. I went into this as my dad works in this trade and my cousin completed an apprenticeship too.

The tutors are really good. I would recommend the College as this is the one that does the apprenticeship that I needed so it was suitable for me.
