I chose this programme as my grandad was a carpenter and most of my family work in a trade. At the moment we are doing a hand sawing test as we are getting ready to move onto power tools. Before this we did a few basic frames and joints. I like all sides of carpentry and I really enjoy the practical side of the programme as I like working with my hands.
The tutors have given us advice on working in the industry such as how to get our CSCS card which you need to get before you can start work. At the moment I am working on the building sites which I may use for my work experience.
I would recommend this programme to other students especially if you prefer the more practical side of things. I live close to the College which is one of the reasons I chose this College. After I finish the programme I want to go into the workplace as a carpenter.
