Other Important Information
The course is delivered on Thursday evenings from 5.00pm–7.00pm.
Assessment takes place throughout the course and there is no final examination. You will build a portfolio containing a range of evidence, which may include written tasks, professional discussions, assessment plans, assessment records and feedback.
You will need access to suitable learners and genuine assessment opportunities appropriate to the pathway you are completing. Further guidance will be provided before you begin the course.
Future Prospects
The qualification can support progression into an assessor role within further education, apprenticeships, workplace training, adult learning and other vocational training settings.
It is also suitable for teachers, trainers, workplace supervisors and industry professionals who have responsibility for assessing learners as part of their existing role.
Once you have gained appropriate assessment experience, you may choose to progress to a Level 4 qualification in Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and develop the skills required to monitor assessment practice, support assessors and help maintain the quality and consistency of assessment decisions
Entry Requirements
- You should have appropriate occupational knowledge, skills and experience in the vocational area in which you intend to assess.
- You will need access to suitable learners and assessment opportunities relevant to your chosen qualification pathway.
- You should be able to complete written work at Level 3 and participate in professional discussions and practical assessment activities.
- You will complete an initial assessment at the start of the course to identify your previous assessment experience and ensure that you have access to appropriate assessment opportunities.
