Future Prospects
Completing an HNC in Civil Engineering equips learners with core skills in structural analysis, geotechnics, materials, surveying and digital construction, providing a strong foundation for technician-level roles in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector. Graduates can progress into careers such as Civil Engineering Technician, Site Engineer, Structural or Highways Technician, with opportunities across consultancies, contractors and local authorities.
The HNC also offers clear pathways to an HND or a full degree, supporting long-term development toward professional recognition and senior technical roles as experience grows.
Entry Requirements
You will need one of the following:
> 64 UCAS (under the new tariff) points from A Levels (including a minimum C grade/4 grade in maths)
> A BTEC National Certificate (minimum MMM grade)
> An Extended Diploma (minimum MMM grade)
> A GNVQ (Advanced) in a relevant discipline
> An Access to Higher Education Diploma.
This qualification has a high level of maths content, students will need strong maths skills in order to be successful on this programme. Student may undergo an initial maths assessment before they are enrolled, please note that if students are not able to demonstrate maths competence at the required level they may not be offered a place on the course.
Mature candidates who do not meet the above criteria may still be admitted to the course subject to an interview with the programme director. The interview includes an admissions test for English and maths.
