Course Description

Higher National Certificates are specialist programmes linked to professional body requirements and national occupational standards where appropriate, with a strong work-related emphasis.

This qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the construction sector and is recognised nationally by employers.

There is a strong emphasis on practical skills development, alongside the development of knowledge and understanding of construction.

If you are working within the construction field or have ambitions of progressing into a professional, managerial or technical role, then this is the qualification for you.

Unit 4 - Construction Environment 
Unit 5 - Legal & Statutory Requirements 
Unit 6 - Digital Application for Construction
Unit 11 - Finance Practice & Management

Unit 17 - Construction & Engineering Technology

> Typical lessons will involve research-based activities, individual and group projects, practical exercises and presentations
> Coursework is the main method of assessment but you may also be required to take some tests and exams depending on the modules studied

Entry Requirements

You will need one of the following:

> 64 UCAS points (under the new tariff) from A Levels (including a minimum B/5 grade in maths or a science subject)
> A BTEC National Certificate (minimum MMM grade)
> An Extended Diploma (minimum MMM grade)
> A GNVQ (Advanced) in a relevant subject
> An Access to Higher Education Diploma.

Mature candidates who do not meet the above criteria may still be admitted to the course subject to an interview with the course leader and undertaking initial assessment of their English and maths.
