Course Description

MidKent College's BSc (Hons) in Construction is a top-up stage of the Foundation Degree/HND in Construction.
This stage requires 120 credits (eight modules) to be attained from the following list. Specific required modules and options for each student will be agreed by the programme director.

> Contracts and Procurement
> Economics and Financial Studies
> Law and Contract
> Management Applications
> Personal Skills.

> Building Services
> Measurement
> Tendering and Estimating
> QS Practice
> Refurbishment, Maintenance and Adaptation
> Urban Environment.
The modules are internally assessed using a variety of methods and styles as appropriate to each module. Assessment methods include assignments, research projects, problem-solving case studies, practical tasks, group work, oral presentations, timeconstrained assignments and formal examinations.

Other Important Information

> As the final stage of the BSc (Hons) degree the learning focuses upon application of previous learning, skills and knowledge attained
> Learning is research-based with both independent and guided study to enable the student to produce work of a professional and academic standard
> Lectures will be supplemented with tutorial/practical support
> Students will usually wish to purchase textbooks, although there are extensive library and online resources available
> Ceremony costs apply for those wishing to attend the graduation
> This programme is validated by the University of Greenwich.

Future Prospects

It will give designating letters BSc (Hons) and give exemption for the academic requirement for corporate membership of CIOB and a route to professional membership of other institutions.

Entry Requirements

Students will require 240 credits attained via a foundation degree or Higher National Diploma. An interview with the programme director will confirm the entry level.
