Course Description

The Digital Systems and Data V Level explores how modern organisations use technology, infrastructure, and data to solve real-world problems and make smart business decisions. Rather than training you for one narrow IT job, this course gives you a broad foundation in how tech networks interact, how data is protected, and how digital products are built. It is ideal for students who want a tech-focused, hands-on qualification alongside traditional A Levels.

You can expect to study:

  • Digital infrastructure and systems
  • Applied data analysis
  • Cyber security
  • Responsible data use
  • AI and automation

(as this is a brand new qualification, the above content is indicative and subject to change)

Other Important Information

A V Level is a newer, flexible version of a BTEC that you can start after your GCSEs, beginning in September 2027.

It is a hands-on qualification designed for students who want to study a specific career area but still want the freedom to mix and match their subjects.

It’s the size of one A Level: Because it takes up the same amount of timetable space as a normal A Level, you can take a V Level alongside two standard A Levels.

No long work placements: V Levels are mostly based in the classroom and college workshops.
