Course Description

A Construction Site Supervisor supervises specialist contractors and workers on construction projects.

The main duties and tasks of a Construction Site Supervisor are:

  • Supervision of specialist contractors
  • The control of health and safety standards on construction projects
  • Recording, control and reporting of progress on a construction project
  • The minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects
  • Control of quality of works on a construction project
  • Assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of costs on a construction project.

    The occupation covered by this standard is Construction Site Supervisor and typical job titles can include: Assistant Site Manager, Assistant Supervisor or Construction Site Supervisor. In the case of SME construction companies the roles are likely to include Site Manager or Site Supervisor.

Future Prospects

A key benefit of pursuing a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Construction Site Supervision is the strong potential for career progression. Apprentices can move into roles such as Site Supervisor, Construction Manager, or Project Coordinator. You could also complete a Higher National Diploma.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship, candidates must be 18 years old or over.

Secure employment: Have an employer in place who is committed to supporting them throughout the apprenticeship.

Work hours: Be employed full-time, working a minimum of 30 hours per week, and be on the company’s PAYE scheme.

Educational qualifications: Must hold a minimum of 3 A-Levels, or a full Level 3 qualification (or equivalent). If candidates do not hold maths and English at grade 4/C or above, they will be required to complete Functional Skills qualifications alongside their apprenticeship.

Pre-employment checks: Successfully complete a scope of work review to ensure your job role aligns with the apprenticeship requirements, a skills scan, and initial assessments in maths and English.
