Course Description

This Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship provides valuable workplace skills and experience while you earn a wage. You will spend most of your week with your employer and attend College occasionally to learn the theoretical elements of the role.

You will undertake a number of qualifications including the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 Advanced Diploma.

The programme covers a range of topics, including advanced bookkeeping, final accounts preparation, management accounting (costing), indirect tax, ethics for accounting, and spreadsheets. We will also work with you to develop your English and maths skills.

Other Important Information

You will complete the AAT Advanced Diploma assessments, skills tests, a portfolio of evidence, a synoptic assessment and a professional discussion.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship, candidates must have completed:

  • A Level 2 AAT Certificate or
  • Level 2 Accounts/Finance Assistant, both with a Merit grade or higher.

    Secure employment: Have an employer in place who is committed to supporting them throughout the apprenticeship.

    Work hours: Be employed full-time, working a minimum of 30 hours per week, and be on the company’s PAYE scheme.

    Educational qualifications: Must hold a minimum of 3 GCSEs in maths & English at Grades 4/C (or equivalent). If candidates do not hold maths and English at grade 4/C or above, they will be required to complete Functional Skills qualifications alongside their apprenticeship.

    Pre-employment checks: Successfully complete a scope of work review to ensure your job role aligns with the apprenticeship requirements, a skills scan, and initial assessments in maths and English.
