Business Owner of Dog Grooming Company 'The Only Way is Grooming'

Kim's story is a powerful reminder that there’s no single path to success, and that it's never too late to start again.

After leaving Rainham School for Girls without any qualifications, Kim was encouraged by her parents to continue her education. She enrolled on a one-year Business Studies course at MidKent College’s City Way campus, where her college days were filled with memories of visiting her dad at the Roffen and sneaking in trips to the local tanning shop during breaks!

At just 17, Kim landed her first secretarial job working for the police in Covent Garden. She continued to build her career in London’s West End before stepping back to raise a family. Later, she worked for ten years in her father’s furniture business before making a big life move - relocating to Spain, where she lived with her family for 15 years.

After returning to the UK and being made redundant at age 50, Kim had what she describes as a “light bulb moment.” She decided to pursue a completely new direction and enrolled on a one-year dog grooming course at a local college in Essex, quickly realising it was the right path for her.

Now back in Rochester, Kim runs her own business: The Only Way is Grooming. She’s passionate about what she does and is happy to help inspire the next generation of MidKent College students.

“It’s never too late to find your passion and make a fresh start. If I can do it, anyone can.”
