Sophie studied Childcare and Education from 2013 to 2015. During her course, she completed multiple placements, one of which led to a part-time job at a nursery that became full-time after she qualified.

She spent seven years in the nursery sector, progressing to management and taking on roles such as SEND Coordinator and Childcare Representative.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sophie decided to retrain and completed a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Shortly after, she joined MidKent College - this time as a Teaching Assistant in the Foundation Department, where she has now worked for nearly five years. “You could say I’ve come full circle. I’m very thankful to the College, and I share my story with students to hopefully inspire them.”

Sophie’s story is a great example of how college experiences can shape and support long-term career success.
