Oluremi Adeoye - Operational Support Grade
"My journey at MidKent College began in January 2023, when I enrolled on an adult course in Assistant Teaching.
At the time, I was eager to gain a deeper understanding of education and how best to support young people in their learning and development.
My experience at the college was incredibly positive. The supportive atmosphere made a real difference, and I had the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who shared a passion for helping students succeed. Those interactions, combined with the knowledge and practical skills I gained, made my time there one of my fondest memories.
Shortly after completing my course, I began working as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Rochester in April 2023. This role has been both challenging and rewarding. It has allowed me to develop strong interpersonal and organisational skills, while also giving me valuable insight into rehabilitation and the importance of personal development.
Alongside my professional role, I am deeply committed to supporting young people beyond the workplace. I serve as a trustee for O & A Empowerment Foundation, a charity dedicated to empowering disadvantaged young people through education and skills training. Our current programme focuses on providing additional support for 11+ students, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
Looking back, my time at MidKent College played an important role in shaping both my career and my commitment to education. It gave me the confidence and foundation to pursue meaningful work and contribute positively to my community."
