In 2021, Nick Quinn joined MidKent College as a mature student to study Catering and Hospitality, taking the first steps towards turning his passion for cooking into a new career.

Before joining the College, Nicholas worked as a professional dancer. Although he enjoyed his career in the performing arts, he decided to retrain and pursue his long-standing interest in food and hospitality.

Today, Nick works in the kitchen of a residential care home in Maidstone. Looking to the future, he hopes to bring together his experience as a dance artist and the skills he has gained in the care setting by leading dance sessions for residents, helping to promote wellbeing, movement and social interaction.

Reflecting on his time at MidKent College, Nick says he enjoyed his studies and the opportunity to gain new skills in a supportive learning environment.

His advice to current and future students is simple: follow your passion!

Nick's journey shows that it is never too late to retrain, pursue a new direction and build a career around something you love.
