When it happens:

  • Clearing generally opens in early July and runs until mid-October.
  • It's important to be aware that Clearing is the final part of the UCAS application cycle.

Why you might use Clearing:

  • you applied through UCAS but didn’t receive any offers by 30 June
  • you’ve received unexpected exam results and need to look for alternative courses
  • you’ve had a change of heart since you applied to UCAS and want to explore other options
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your firm or insurance choice
  • you haven’t applied through UCAS before.

How to apply

Once Clearing opens on 5 July 2025, you can apply if we still have places on our courses. You are eligible to apply through Clearing if you have all your exam results and are not holding an offer from another university.

If you had conditional offers but your grades didn't go as planned, you can enter Clearing from A-level results day (Thursday 14 August 2025) onwards, as Clearing choices can be added to your UCAS Hub account from 1pm.

If you are holding an offer elsewhere in UCAS and you have changed your mind, you'll be able to self-release from A-level results day to cancel your place. Once done, you can accept an offer from another university.

If we offer you a place, you can add it as your Clearing choice in your UCAS application.

Don't forget to accept your offer

You’ll usually have 24 hours to accept a Clearing offer. So, once you’ve decided which one you’d like to accept, head to your UCAS Hub. Go to the ‘next steps’ section, select ‘add a Clearing choice’ and input the course details. By adding the course as a Clearing choice, you are accepting your offer.
