Henry Parmenter is a Building Services Engineering apprentice and works for the engineering design consultancy and planning specialist "Syntegra Group" in their MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) subsidiary, Building Services Group, in Priory Road, Tonbridge.
Congratulating him, Sam Phillips, BSG Senior Electrical Engineer, said: “Henry started out with the company when he completed his Year 12 Work Experience Placement for one week. He made a great impression with his attitude and desire to learn but also how quickly he picked up the tasks we set him. We stayed in touch and explored options to get Henry back working full time while continuing his education. The apprenticeship has been brilliant and offers Henry the right balance between education and developing his on-the-job experience. He has become a key member of our team and his contributions to our work have been highly valuable on all projects.”
Michelle Igane, Harry’s MidKent College training officer, said Henry deserves this recognition. “He is an exemplary apprentice. He approaches every task with a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn, regularly going above and beyond what is expected of him. He shows maturity, responsibility, and strong problem‑solving skills. He seeks feedback proactively and uses it to improve his performance, showing clear and continuous development. What truly sets him apart is his enthusiasm for the apprenticeship programme and his drive to achieve both his personal and professional goals. He takes pride in his work, contributes positively to the workplace environment, and consistently embodies the values we aim to instil in all apprentices.”
Henry said: “I knew that I didn't want to go to university but just couldn't pick a career path. I studied Product Design at A Level because of my passion for drawing and design.
When I carried out work experience with the Building Services Group, I instantly clicked with the team and knew that I wanted more. Luckily, they felt the same as at the end of my work experience week, they gave me a £50 M&S gift card for my contribution but also offered me part time work in school holidays to further improve my learning.
“I worked there during the summer of 2024, as well as more half terms. After that, I was offered the chance to continue working with them through an apprenticeship. This was a dream come true. It was a way for me to continue education without going to university and grow more in knowledge to help give back to the company that has given me so much. On this course, I will be gaining theory knowledge as well as practical experience and I couldn't be happier.”
Congratulations Henry
