The return of the chefs
Former Hospitality & Catering students Ethan, Alex and Amelia took time out of their successful careers as chefs to inspire our current students in their latest menu challenge.
Our Hospitality & Catering students were tasked with preparing a two course menu with a set deadline, which was judged by our former students. They had to plan produce and present a 2-course meal, that did not exceed £24, in under two and a half hours. The entries looked professional, with both a challenging main course and dessert to test the students’ cooking and presentation skills.
The winner will progress to be the College’s entry for the prestigious Kent Cooks Professionals competition later in the year. The College has performed well in the past in this challenging competition, and we’re looking forward to competing again this year!
Executive Director Martin Peat was on-hand to talk to former students about how their careers have progressed since leaving College, with Ethan securing a much sought after place in the Balmoral Restaurant in Edinburgh.
Martin said “We would like to thank our former students for inspiring the next generation of young chefs here at the College. The experience and industry knowledge that they bring and convey is really vital to encouraging our current students to achieve their culinary aspirations.
Our close association with local and national employers ensures that our students learn current and up-to-date practical and theoretical knowledge. Seeing successful former students progress to prestigious restaurants in the UK recognises their hard work, dedication and commitment during their time at College and in their industry placement.”
There's still time to join us this September on a Hospitality & Catering study programme at the College. Find out more about the programmes available, and apply online, here.
