Public Services students get stuck into politics at Europe House
Level 3 Public Services students have been learning about the European Union at Europe House in London, as part of the International Institutions module.
Europe House is one of the UK’s key information centres that welcomes people that want to know more about the Union and government – perfect for second years. The session involved them competing against one another to get information to get the correct information related to the EU - well done to Nathan Brodie who won this!
There was then time for a debate - students were given the issue of Turkey’s EU application. They were all split up and had to represent the various political groups in the EU parliament, stepping into politician's shoes and arguing their cases.
After lunch students headed to The Supreme Court as part of their Aspects of the Legal System module, where the host got them thinking about the legal aspects of recent court cases - plenty more time for discussion and debate!
It was great to get students inspired, and to give some insight into contemporary issues which lots of people find hard to keep up with! Well done to all our students who took part.
