MidKent College joins the herd!
Next summer, MidKent College will join up to 50 other local businesses who have sponsored an Elmer the Patchwork Elephant sculpture as part of the Heart of Kent Hospice’s fundraising initiative.
Maidstone will be transformed overnight with individually designed sculptures in key areas across the town. Local schools are also participating with baby Elmer designs and a learning programme celebrating diversity.
The Heart of Kent Hospice, based in Aylesford, provides outstanding support and care for those in the local community who have a terminal illness, as well as their carers and families. Since they were established in 1991 over 15,000 people have been supported by the charity.
We’re looking forward to seeing all of the individual Elmer sculptures across Maidstone, and the growth of community engagement, cohesion and spirit. It’s also a brilliant opportunity for the local community to find out more about Maidstone, to attract new visitors to the area and for families to spend more time together!
Steve Hyland, Director of Marketing & Communications at the College, said “The Hospice is such a vital part of our local community in Maidstone, and as the town’s local college, we’re proud to be part of this excellent fundraising initiative.
We hope that the trail will grow the town’s sense of community, encouraging residents and visitors to find previously undiscovered areas of Maidstone.
