Foundation Education students go green!

Throughout March, Foundation Education students have been participating in a gardening project which was based at the Great Lines Heritage Park. The students were given the task of choosing a local area of which they could contribute to focusing on the areas of team work and community engagement. The students searched the local green spaces and felt that the Great Lines Park would be an ideal place as a number visit the park with family or use it to walk to and from College.

Lauren Hendry, work placement coordinator at MidKent College said: "They are proud of what they have achieved and excited to tell their friends, families and other College staff about their hard work and the tools they have been using, especially the loppers and bow saws."

The students worked alongside Nicola and Rob from Medway Council Green Spaces and the two leaders helped the students to feel more comfortable seeing as they were out of their comfort zones. The students have gained an amazing amount of confidence and skills from the project.
