Fantastic fundraising at MidKent College

Health & Social Care students raised an amazing £1108.08 for the British Heart Foundation last week.

As part of a year-long campaign, Health & Social Care lecturer Damian Rollinson and his students have been raising awareness about congenital heart defects. Damian's young daughter Posie was diagnosed with the condition when only a few weeks old.

James Perry from The Royal Brompton Hospital - which specialises in cardio and respiratory disorders - visited the College to speak to Health & Social Care students about his job as a specialist cardiac children's nurse. He also discussed the different heart defects and the causes of them.

Lecturer Damian said "James was absolutely fantastic, and both the staff and students took so much out of it. This is such an important cause and it's great to get my students involved too."

The students also organised a range of different fundraising activities for #WearRedDay including selling pin badges, face painting and a raffle.
