£1756 raised by Travel and Tourism students for Make A Wish
Hundreds of pounds have been raised by students at MidKent College for children’s charity Make A Wish.
Travel and Tourism students from the College hoped to raise £1000 by organising a charity event, but their generous guests contributed to a grand total of £1756 by the end of the night.
Over 140 guests enjoyed a two course dinner, entertainment and a raffle at the Medway Campus in Gillingham, with raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
The students chose to support Make a Wish because of the excellent support it provides to seriously ill children and their families in granting them a once-in-a-lifetime wish. All college students complete work experience and activities that help them prepare for employment, and the Travel and Tourism students were keen that a charity benefited from their efforts.
Alison Bunting, Lecturer in Travel and Tourism, said that “they worked together as a team and enjoyed the experience of a real-life event. As their tutor I truly believe that all students involved in the event have gained respect for life, and I’m very proud that they were so passionate in their support for Make a Wish.”
Make a Wish recently visited the students at College to receive a cheque, thank them for their work, and talk about how they use donations to benefit children and families.
