Transition to Higher Education at College

Do you have 6th form students with the potential to study Higher Education?

MidKent College also offers a wide range of Higher Education courses that may be the perfect next step for your students. Our simple, straightforward approach to higher education has enabled us to deliver flexible, value-for-money courses for over 40 years.

You can study a wide range of higher education qualifications at the College including Higher National Qualifications and Foundation Degrees. Our popular part-time courses are designed to fit around the needs of the students, with many courses being available both full and part time. Courses include:

In 2017, the College will also be launching higher-level apprenticeships in Construction, Engineering and Health & Social Care.

We design our courses in collaboration with local employers, so our students will be equipped with the most up-to-date industry knowledge and skills possible before they enter the world of work. Many of our programmes are validated by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. The College has partnerships with many local, national and international companies who provide students with a unique insight into the world of work. We aim to develop the skills employers expect, and aid CV and personal statement writing and preparation for job interviews.

In 2015 98% of our higher education students progressed to work or further study at the end of their course. In 2016, Our National Student Survey, a measure of overall higher education student satisfaction, ranked us a fantastic 27th out of the 375 institutions that took part.

  • Transitional support for those applying to study HE at MidKent College

Higher Education Ambassadors

In addition to support from College staff, we employ a dedicated team of HE ambassadors who are available to come and speak to your students about alternative routes into HE, and studying for a higher or degree-level qualification locally.

All of the ambassadors are currently studying on HE courses delivered by the College, and are ideally placed to come and share their experiences with you or your students.

Sessions available with ambassadors include:

  • What is College HE?
  • Is College HE for me?
  • Higher Apprenticeships information sessions
  • Q&A stand at Careers fairs/HE events
  • Q&A stand at parent consultation evenings
  • Transitional support

The ambassadors also support on-site events including school visits and taster days.
