I chose to do study Building Services Design Engineering as I want to learn new skills and find out what is involved in building services engineering. So far we have covered electrical wiring and cabling designs and have learnt how to use AutoCAD 2D and some 3D. We have also done freehand drawings. My favourite topic has been learning about different fire alarm systems. The practicals are really helpful – you can get into the nitty gritty of things.
The course tutor, Kim, is very good and knows her stuff! You can just ask if you need any help, for example with assignments.
I’m employed as an Assistant Project Engineer for a company in Tonbridge and really want to progress to the HND course. I’d recommend going to the College as it is a cheaper way of learning than going away to university and it’s good to know you are doing a course that leads to a specific job.
