Which programme did you complete at MidKent College?
I studied the Level 3 in Public Services at Maidstone Campus and finished in 2017/18
Did you have an idea of what career/degree you wanted to do when you started the programme?
I always wanted to be a combat medic in the army (RAMC) but due to medical reasons I could not, however now I volunteer as an instructor for the Army Cadet Force, within the regiment RAMC.
What are you studying now?
I am studying Paramedic Science at Canterbury Christ Church University.
What does it involve?
I have been working with South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) for just over a year or two. We do placement blocks, usually one month theory at the university then two months on the ambulance. Training at the moment is based on clinical skills such as cannulation and giving drugs.
How is it going so far?
I am a second year student and have loved every second - the experience is life changing.
Do you feel that your College programme helped prepare you for the course you are doing now?
Towards my second year I realised that I wanted to become a paramedic. My tutors worked hard to help me achieve this and the programme helped me hugely.
What were the highlights of studying at College?
I loved my tutors, they were the highlight of my programme and were so supportive and friendly.
Would you recommend the programme and/or College to other students?
I loved studying at the College, I often helped with fundraising and created events. I would definitely recommend the programme and would come back if I could!
Anything else you would like to add?
Never doubt yourself, if I can do it, you can do it!
