The Details

This course meets and exceeds the national minimum standard of qualification set by the Care Quality Commission for those practising in health and social care. It will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment in the industry at a supervisory or management level, through a flexible choice of units depending on your career goal.

  • Classes will be delivered through the use of interactive lectures, guest speakers, seminars, group work, debates, visits, presentations and more
  • You will be assessed using a variety of short and extended writing assignments, peer reviews, independent research projects and other classroom tasks
  • When applying for UCAS you will need the following codes for your application: UCAS code L590 and MidKent College's institution code M87.

    Future Prospects

    The HND in Health and Social Care is a recognised and popular route to further study at university. It also prepares students for a wide range of professional careers at a supervisory or junior management level.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need one of the following:

  • 48 UCAS points (under the new tariff)
  • A National Certificate/ Diploma in a relevant discipline (minimum Merit or Distinction)
  • A Level 3 Extended Diploma in a relevant discipline (minimum Merit or Distinction)
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma
  • A Level 3 industry related qualification.

    GCSEs in English and maths at grade C/level 4 or above.

    Mature learners with a relevant profile of achievement and/or professional qualifications will be considered.
