Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician is an essential role across many industries ? from power production to manufacturing. Employers have come together to set the standard for this role, based on desired skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

Who is it for?
This apprenticeship standard is flexible and can be applied to seven different roles - Electrical Technicians; Mechanical Technicians; Control & Instrumentation Technicians; Wind Turbine Technicians; Electrical System and Process Control Technicians; Electromechanical Technicians and Plant Operations Technicians.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, apprentices will be competent to operate, having gained:
? Practical experience of the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment, during fault and normal working activities
? An operational understanding of industry health, safety and
? environmental working practices and regulations
? Knowledge about relevant engineering theories and principles relative to their occupation
Assessing competence
Independent technical experts from industry will confirm whether the apprentice has met or exceeded the standard (awarding a fail, pass, merit or distinction). The end-point assessment consists of three elements: knowledge test; practical observation; and technical interview.

Achievement means the apprentice will be eligible to apply for registration as Engineering Technician (EngTech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.
