This Apprenticeship will help take your on-the-job skills to an advanced level. You will work alongside an experienced tradesperson to develop your new skills and attend College one day a week to learn the theoretical side of your trade.
You will learn the complex aspects of site work or joinery, including complex roofing geometry and site operations. In addition to the main units, you will be assessed on how you operate in a work environment, including maintaining a safe, clean, working environment and communicating with others.
Other Important Info Some of your training will be College-based, and include developing your practical skills in the workshop, as well as theory sessions related to your work
All students must provide their own personal protective equiment at College to study Site Carpentry
The end-point assessment consists of two key elements. The knowledge assessment consists of 40 questions designed to assess your understanding of the specific knowledge and behavioural requirements, while the practical assessment is a skills test.
You could become a construction site manager, a carpenter with advanced skills, or you could set up your own carpentry business. You can also increase your skills by applying to join the Higher Apprenticeship in Construction.
Upon completion you are then eligible to apply for the Gold advanced craft CSCS card required to work on large construction projects.
Applicants should have: Employment within the sector with a contract of employment for at least 30 hours per week
5 GCSEs including Maths and English at minimum grade C or 4 and above
Successuful Completion of the Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship Standard
