This course offers a broad base of traditional construction subjects with specialist options allowing you to shape the qualification towards your
particular career goals.

If you are working within the construction field or have ambitions of progressing into a professional, managerial or technical role, then these are the qualifications for you.

Students who do well on the HND may choose to stay on for a third year and study the BSc (Hons) in Construction. The course will include the following modules:

    Other Important Info

  • Typical lessons will involve research-based activities, individual and group projects, practical exercises and presentations
  • Coursework is the main method of assessment but you may also be required to take some tests and exams depending on the modules studied
  • Students will usually wish to purchase textbooks although there are extensive library and online resources available
  • Ceremony costs apply for those wishing to attend the graduation
  • This programme is validated by the University of Kent
  • When applying for UCAS you will need the following codes for your application: UCAS code K200 and MidKent College's Institution code M87

    Future Prospects

    Successful completion could lead to employment as a technician, site/ contracts manager, contractor's surveyor, buyer, planner, estimator or site engineer. You may also find work with general practice surveyors, quantity surveyors and/or architectural practices.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need one of the following:

  • 80 UCAS points (under the new tariff) from A-levels (including a minimum C grade in maths or a science subject)
  • BTEC National Certificate (minimum MMM grade)
  • Extended Diploma (minimum MMM grade)
  • GNVQ (Advanced) in a relevant subject
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma

    Mature entry will be considered. Admissions test for Maths and English.
